a completely non-competitive festival with great clinics and an awesome guest performance by Mt. Hood Community College's Jazz Band. Clinicians are Susie Jones (Mt. Hood Community College), Brian McWhorter (University of Oregon), and Jeff Uusitalo (renowned jazz artist). No scores, no rankings, no politics, no worries...just a very supportive atmosphere and a GREAT opportunity for your jazz band's first festival experience. Open to all schools regardless of grade level or experience.

Action Items - ALL MEMBERS
Sign up for a Google Account - we are going to begin using Google Documents to maintain judges lists, registration materials, event schedules, solo and ensemble room times, and any other documents that we want to share with each other.
PLEASE NOTIFY ANN MCBRIDE as soon as you have your account set up....David Douglas folks, just let me know that you have found your Documents area.
This can only work as an effective communication tool if everyone gets on board.
- Go to Google Docs and either create an account with your school email OR associate your school email with a pre-existing account...for more help see the "Google Documents How To..."
- We would like everyone to do this by September 19th. Once we know we have everyone signed up, then we can begin sharing documents.

FALL MEETING
Fall meeting is schedule for September 10th at 4 p.m. at Centennial High School. Please brig calendars as we will try to set as many event dates as possible at this meeting. Additionally, if your district is in charge of planning an event, please come with possible dates and locations already scoped out, if possible.

Spring Meeting
Thank you for taking the time to follow the link to the OMEA District II web site. We are trying to utilize this tool to communicate more effectively!
*As we are barreling toward the end of the year, the board has determined that we do not need a spring meeting. Our next general meeting will be September 10, 2008.
*At the fall meeting we will establish dates for District II events...please make sure you bring your calendar!!
*Next year's event chairs are as follows (per the rotation schedule):
Middle School Festivals: Parkrose and Hood River
Middle School Solo and Ensemble: Oregon Trail
Middle School Honor Groups: David Douglas
If it is your year to chair an event next year. Please plan to come to the fall meeting having researched possible dates and locations.
*We also need to be thinking about how to deal with the number of bands at the middle school festival. We are struggling with too many groups and not enough time.

State Solo Contest Registration
The OMEA/OSAA State Solo Contest registration link is open. Go ti the OMEA homepage at www.oregonmusic.org. The instructions are in the second article.
Participants in the State Solo contest MUST be registered by their school music teacher. Students, parents and private instructors can not register contestants for the contest. School music teachers must be members of OMEA/MENC (see state solo contest guideline). You will be asked for you OMEA/MENC membership number as part of the registration process. For question about eligibility please see the OSAA State Solo Contest Rules at: www.OSAA.org.
Please register first and second alternates on the site using the "placing" tab to bring up first alternate or second alternate.

HS Solo Schedule Posted
The most current schedule for High School Instrumental Solo and Ensemble is posted in the the links on the right. Many changes have occurred since the original schedule was sent out and there are bound to be more changes before Saturday...this is up to date as of this posting.

The Best Laid Plans....
Middle School Band Festival has a scheduling conflict. Reynolds is not available on Thursday, March 13th as we had originally planned, but is available on Wednesday, March 12th. Please contact Tim Wells right away if there is a problem with this date change.
